Today's Scotsman

I have a letter to the editor published in today's Scotsman. Don't think I make a habit of this sort of thing.

Atlantic Square, Glasgow

Glasgow's new 'Atlantic Square' to be built on James Watt Street, which connects the western section of Argyle Street to the Broomielaw on the side of the River Clyde. It incorporates an existing street-fronted Classical façade which, despite its grandeur, is in a fairly advanced state of decay.

Whilst the new buildings themselves are nothing inspirational, this is an interesting step in the development of a run-down part of the city. It also has an attractive courtyard, connecting the new buildings with the old.

Aberdeen

My studies have taken me north again, this time to Aberdeen.

Imagine my surprise to see a pheasant wandering around in the middle of Old Aberdeen, just opposite King's College (above) today. I grabbed my 'phone/camera/MP3 player/everything else and managed to get a few photographs, but until the weekend I am afraid I'll have no way to upload them.

Registering is a bloody nuisance, incidentally.
